Good Afternoon, MRHS Parents/Guardians,
It has been a long road combating the threat of COVID-19 this year. However, great progress has been made on the national, state, and local level. The number of vaccinated people continues to climb and transmission rates are continuing to decrease. That said, the Restart Committee met yesterday and starting on Monday, 06/07/2021, students will not have to complete the daily Health Screening Form. If we have to reinstate this practice in the future you will be notified. All other safety, screening, and entry protocols are still in effect including temperature checks, masking, social distancing, and the requirement to sanitize your hands. This message contains an important checklist reminder of when not to send a student to school and to call the School Nurse to discuss the situation. This checklist must be reviewed before coming to the school building and/or school grounds. It has been attached to this email for your reference in English, Spanish, and Arabic. The safety rules remain the same as regards contacting the school in advance if you have any COVID-19 or other health concerns.
If you or your child are ill or have any symptoms you must contact the School Nurse (973-389-2853) prior to coming to the school building and/or campus grounds. If the School Nurse cannot be reached then parents/guardians should contact the Main Office (973-389-2820) for assistance. This is the same process we have been following since we reopened and there is no change to the contact chains for staff or families.
Health and safety is everyone's personal and social responsibility. Due to your responsible participation in all health/safety processes and protocols we are able to now take this next step toward a state of normalcy that we all remember so fondly. Please be advised, however, that we could have to take a step back at any time if someone does not continue to be responsible for the health and safety of others. For example, by making a decision to come to school with symptoms that would intentionally jeopardize the health and safety of others. Like before, doing so will lead to that person being held fully accountable by the school district and injured parties for whom this virus can cause severe harm or even death. So, let us take this next step together in solidarity and remember, it is always better to be safe than sorry. We have not yet failed to work out a plan for any situation or concern. If we all work together we will continue to do so until we can all take off our masks and look back on the days that we came together to successfully defeat a global pandemic.
Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.
